A4 Printing

The A4 printing is a the most popular method to print documents, letters and even to print books. Most printers follow A4 convention and this has been the most successful printing format. Although A4 is widely used by businesses and individuals alike, the size is not a solid standard in other printing applications. This applies to many products like flyers, pamphlets, cards and even booklets.

A4 Printing for Flyers and Pamphlets

For printing flyers and pamphlets you are not charged per number of colours. The price depends on the quality and the size of the substrate. The biggest pamphlets and flyers are in the A4 printing format. However, most customers prefer smaller options like A5, A6 and even A7. You pay only $30 more to improve the quality of 500 flyers. However, for the same quantity you will pay $100 more if you move from A5 to A4 printing format. Thus, most people choose smaller dimensions than A4 to advertise their services.

A4 Printing for Cards

Most cards are folded. Thus, the folded A4 format provides each page with a A5 size. The folded A5 offers A6 for each page. And so on... Most special occasion cards use sizes up to A4. However, good quality printed cards seldom appear in the A4 printing format. The general trend is to use sizes between A4 and A5.

A4 Printing for Catalogs and Booklets

Standard printed catalogs and booklets use A4 format. However, it is not unusual for printed booklets to appears in A5 dimensions. Nonetheless, it is accepted that the A4 printing format is a standard for most manuals and educational literature.

Letter vs. Legal A4 Printing

There are many standards for paper sizes. These include ISO A, B and C series. Others, include ANSI and Architectural formats. However, there are few deviations which are called loose sizes. One of them is the A4 printing format.

The A4 letter and A4 legal are examples of those exceptions. The A4 printing letter dimensions are: 216mm by 279mm. The A4 printing legal size is: 216mm by 356mm. You must be aware of these differences. Printing businesses must know the exact dimensions rather than the general formats. By specifying millimeters (or inches) rather than A, B or C formats, your printing contractor cannot claim any misunderstanding.
